Oprah Winfrey fans reside all over the world. A look at Oprah's fans in San Diego does not provide an accurate look at her following in the rest of the US. However, when Oprah made an appearance at the San Diego High School there were so many students, parents, teachers and media in the parking lot that the security had to be very alert.
Oprah's fans have spoken out and most feel that she is a strong advocate of women's rights. A lot of Oprah fans honor and believe her to be the queen of daytime television. The things she has done for others are, without a doubt, very caring and giving. One San Diego recipient of her support was a girl who lost her left forearm and lower right leg after she was struck by lightning. After Oprah was involved in her recovery in San Diego, a lot more people became Oprah fans.
Some fans are no longer watching Oprah any more. During the last Presidential campaign, some Oprah fans felt betrayed. With her fame and recognition, her female supporters believed that instead of backing Barack Obama (a black man), Oprah should have used her influence to support Hillary Clinton (a woman).
They now feel that she is a stronger advocate of race than of women. Right or wrong, we all make choices to follow or lead, and Oprah is a strong leader with a lot of followers. Her loyal fans in San Diego will undoubtedly forgive her and continue to watch this very influential and strong woman. Will this cause her to lose her viewers and, therefore, her ratings? Only time will tell.
Oprah's fans in San Diego are among her very best.
