Oprah also has her fans among the Baby Boomers in Florida who are especially interested in her support for President Barack Obama.

The Florida Federation of Republican Women called for a boycott of Oprah because of her decision not to invite the Republican Vice Presidential candidate, Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin, on her television show until after the election. The boycott which also called for women to cancel their subscriptions to the O magazine and some of her sponsors, drew national attention during the election campaign. In spite of the call for the boycott, Oprah's fans filled the Tampa Convention Center for her eight hour personal improvement seminar. In fact, tickets for her seminar sold out the very first day. The ticket sales were an indication of Oprah's popularity in the the sunshine state.
