Orlando: Oprah and Her Fans

The Orlando fans of Oprah Winfrey are a diverse group. They are opinionated, loyal and capable of just about anything. And boy, do they love Oprah!

Forty percent of the fan base is age 55 and white, but in Orlando, there is a strong group of African American fans. They love the openness and honesty of Oprah but are still willing to voice their opinions. Some of her fans were frustrated by Oprah’s support of President Obama, and they were not afraid to say so. Fans were disappointed that Oprah did not support Hillary Clinton, and even went so far as to call Oprah a traitor. Hal Boedeker, who is the “TV Guy” in Orlando, noted that attendance was down by seven percent at the tapings of the Oprah show because of the political endorsement.

Another group of people who are big fans of Oprah are also the teachers of Orlando. Oprah’s support of education is well received by the teachers. Fans come in all sizes. Students of the Lockhart Middle School became “O” ambassadors and helped by educating students about people in Latin America and holding fundraisers.

There are two groups in Orlando that hold Oprah meet up groups to discuss Eckhart Tolle’s book: A New Earth. The fans enjoy the “Book of the Month” club and hold many discussions concerning their favorites.

Oprah’s fans in Orlando are a contributing factor to Oprah’s success and continuously show their love and support for her in many ways.
