Oprah's New York Fans

Oprah was "feeling the love" and was overwhelmed with the reaction to her by her New York fans on September 10, 2007. She had agreed to tape her 22nd anniversary show in New York City at the Madison Square Garden. The show was to be done there in memory of 9/11. In the first taping, the crowd that greeted her included a mixture of women and men of all ages and races. There was screaming, applauding, crying and tears in the crowd of over 5,000 fans. You would have thought that the Beatles had returned to the Garden with the reaction she received.

The second taping increased the fans numbers to a total of 11,200, all attending to express their love. Many of the fans had been lined up there from very early in the morning waiting to get in. The fans that greeted her were ten times the number that usually attended her Chicago show headquarters taping.

There were a lot of loving sentiments expressed on Oprah's behalf. People were there under different circumstances, from celebrating birthdays to just wanting to show their appreciation for what Oprah stood for. Some had tried for years to purchase tickets to her show in Chicago but failed every time. They were successful in purchasing the Madison Square Garden tickets and were overjoyed. Some fans purchased a great number of tickets. At one time, the requests for the tickets were so numerous that the website was shut down for awhile.
