Oprah's Networks

Who hasn’t heard of Oprah Winfrey and all the aid she has given around the world, not to mention her daily television show, “Oprah”? January 15, 2008, Oprah connected with Discovery Communications for form her OWN network, aptly standing for The Oprah Winfrey Network in HD. This network will reach over 70 million people in their homes including Power of Oprah.com. OWN is scheduled to premier in 2009 and is aimed to inspire, inform and entertain people to live their best life possible.

OWN has been a dream of Oprah's over the past 15 years and is really a culmination of the purposeful and passionate programs she has shared with the world through her "Oprah" television program. She believes when people are inspired to live their best lives possible, they project onto the lives of others and continue to have a domino effect. Ms. Norman, a former MTV executive, will supervise the creative and business undertakings for the channel.

Probably the most wee-known world aid project that Oprah has heralded in is her Angel Network. She has built the seven Fountains Primary School in South Africa, spending two million dollars, and is in the process of building two new state-of-the-art schools in other parts of Africa.

Other areas of Oprah’s financial influence have culminated in programs called "The O Ambassador’s" where children help other children in school-based clubs to encourage compassion and operate fund-raisers to help other needy parts of the world start new schools. Also, as a result of the monstrous damages of Hurricane Katrina, Oprah’s supporters have come through to help “Rebuild the Gulf Coast.”
