Oprah Fan Community

Oprah fans have been loyal and dedicated to her for over 20 years. Oprah followers read the books she promotes, wear the labels she suggests and use the products that Oprah endorses. They follow her without question. Oprah fans are generally white, 55 or older and work from their homes. Their loyalty has made her a household name and the guru of women’s issues. Oprah fans feel she is approachable, and one of the regular people. They feel she understands what it’s like to be average, over-weight or to have suffered through and survived abuse. Oprah fans are unwavering, or at least they were until Oprah put her star making power behind the Obama presidential campaign.

Since Oprah has publicly embraced the Obama campaign and has endorsed him as her personal choice for the next president of the United States, many of her fans have jumped ship and are accusing Oprah of using her star power and, "midas touch," to make Obama golden.
Many fans are disappointed that Oprah did not support Hilary Clinton’s campaign and feel she has turned her back on the very people who have supported her all these years. They are accusing her of choosing race over gender and feel she should have stuck with her feel good shows and remain bi-partisan and given all of the candidates the same time on her show. For this reason, some are now ex-fans and say they will never watch her show again. Will never take her seriously again and will never be Oprah fans again.

The fans who remain loyal feel Oprah has a right to endorse whomever she chooses and think the now ex-fans are over reacting to a decision that every American including, Oprah Winfrey, has the right to make. Oprah fans have always been vocal in their loyalty towards her and now they are just as vocal in their debate of her recent political decision.
