The last few years have had some fans swindled, injured, and let down by Oprah. Around 70 senior citizens were cheated out of a bus tour and tickets to the Oprah show in Chicago when a travel agent promised them tickets and the tour for $500 per person. The man, Terrence Hawkins gained at least $35,000 and was arrested on at least 17 counts. He has not been sentenced yet.
A woman has sued the Oprah Show and Harpo for $50,000 in medical care and damages. The woman and others were waiting to be seated and claimed the crew were not doing their jobs as people were rushing for their chairs, and in the process causing her to fall down a flight of stairs, resulting in physical and mental injuries.
Finally, Oprah fans are very unhappy with her endorsement of Obama, claiming she is choosing race over gender. Most of her audience is white, 55 and older and believe she should have stayed non-partisan. She should have had all three candidates on her show, and gave them equal time instead of just picking one. This a different side of Oprah that some fans don't like. Most feel if she should have picked anyone, it should have been Hillary Clinton. Oprah's ratings have dropped some due to this and other popular shows like Ellen Degeneres and Rachael Ray. The only good news for fans is that a new store opened to buy Oprah's used clothing and shoes.
