Orlando Oprah Fans

Hal Boedeker, nicknamed the "TV Guy" in Orlando, Florida, follows the daily presentations and rumors about Oprah Winfrey.  He even extracts articles from such publications as the New York Times.  Recently, for instance, the Times described Oprah's show as "dragging a bit these days."  This prompted Boedeker to ask, "Is Oprah Blue?"  This reference was lifted from the "blue man," one of Oprah's guests whose skin was actually blue in color.

While Boedeker regards Oprah as the "queen of daytime talk," he did observe that her overall audience is down about seven percent from last year.  He noted, as well, that Oprah had apparently alienated a lot of people with her support of Barack Obama.  Boedeker's reference to this is hardly intended as a critique of Oprah Winfrey who he describes with admiration as "one tough cookie."  First and foremost, he says, Oprah is a "savvy businesswoman."

Oprah's opulence stands in stark contrast to mainstream America, now suffering from inflation and staggering gas prices.  Boedeker thinks that bringing her show down a notch to reach this audience and backing away just a bit from her star studded friends and connections might be a smart move for the present, concentrating instead on tips to viewers for making it through hard times.

As Boedeker puts it, "Be less ostentatious on coming shows."  She could, he advises, put her vast wealth and her smarts into helping the country in more down to earth, easy to use ways than "Oprah's Big Give."
