Oprah Winfrey is the queen of talk shows. She started her show in 1986, has been an actress starring in the classic movie The Color Purple, and later another movie from a book written by Toni Morrison called Beloved. She was a reporter, among other things and has proven to be the real deal. Many people in the United States are tremendous fans of her television show, because it has topics people need to know, want to hear, and presents compassion for the abused. People in her audience have exclaimed that they receive nothing but down home hospitality when there. The bottom line – she displays to people that she cares.
San Antonio, Texas was no exception to being one of her top fan cities until she started backing Barack Obama. Some women believe she should choose her gender while others believe she is only backing her race, all because she stepped forward for whom she believed would be a great president. Did she choose race over gender, or could it be she chose the candidate she believed in? Since then, Oprah Winfrey has stopped traveling with the presidential candidate. Is it because she is losing fans? Does she owe anyone an answer?
Some of the San Antonio, Texas Oprah Winfrey fans are up in arms about her choice for president because of the gender/race dispute. Would anyone really be a supporter to a presidential candidate wanting to run this great country only because of skin color or gender? Oprah has made statements as to why she chose Barack Obama. She has had other candidates in the past on her show, but she likes her show to be unrehearsed. Maybe it’s not gender or race – maybe she feels Barack Obama has the answers. Can San Antonio fans fault her for that?
