Is Orlando police Chief Val Demings a big Oprah fan? His response to this question was, “I would say I have watched my share of Oprah.” Val Demings is not bashful when discussing his enjoyment of Oprah’s show as he expressed to “The TV Guy,” Hal Boedeker.
Hal Boedeker, a well known figure to Orlando TV watchers, is probably her biggest fan. Hal rarely misses an opportunity to alert other fans of her upcoming shows and who they don’t want to miss. Do you like the Jonas Brothers? Boedeker told his viewers, “You’re in luck. The trio will be guests on Thursday’s Oprah Winfrey Show. Catch the fun at 4 p.m. on WFTV-Channel 9.”
On July 8, 2008, Hal informed his viewers about the appearance of Suze Orman and Jessica Seinfeld. His introduction was, “You’ll get some hope and horror from Oprah Winfrey this week. First, the hope: Jessica Seinfeld -— wife of famous comedian Jerry Seinfeld -— shares a menu secret that has Dr. Oz applauding. Oprah.com says Jessica Seinfeld’s ‘delicious secret’ was one that ‘changed her family’s life!’ The Oprah folks supplied the exclamation mark. You can decide whether they’re right by watching at 4 p.m Tuesday on WFTV-Channel 9.”
On July 6, 2008, Boedeker offered, “Oprah Winfrey is going to dispense some tough love Monday—with the help of a woman that Winfrey’s show bills as ‘American’s Toughest Matchmaker.’”
While Boedeker doesn’t confine his previews only to Oprah, it is clear from the sheer number of times he tips off his viewers that she’s one of his favorite personalities. And, of course, if his viewers weren’t big fans of the Oprah Winfrey show, Hal wouldn’t be taking advantage of these opportunities.
