Robin Smith, who has been an Oprah fan for several years, started a blog that will give updated news about Oprah’s School in South Africa. Ms. Smith stated that the blog site was only the beginning of many upcoming sites that would give friends and fans of Oprah the chance to meet and chat.
Pastor John Gale stated in his blog titled PJ's Blog, that he has been a long-time fan of Oprah’s but has been disappointed with her lately because she plans to teach a course on the New Age Christ. Pastor Gale stated that Oprah started in January of 2008 to teach a daily lesson on her radio show. The show encourages listeners to buy the book called “A Course in Miracles” and Oprah’s fans that complete the course are to have accomplished a redefined mindset. The New Age world view would include the beliefs that there is no devil, no sin and no evil.
Megan Wilson, who wrote an article for Intersection for the Arts, stated that all her friends know that she is a major Oprah fan. She loves the fact that Oprah has become one of the most powerful black women in the world in spite of the obstacles that she went through as a child. Ms. Wilson stated that she appreciates the fact that Oprah is not afraid to talk about controversial topics such as transsexuals and the war in Iraq. Ms. Wilson stated that her friends and herself have held numerous conversations about Oprah possibly running for President. The consensus, however, was that Oprah should continue reaching out and helping people in her personable way.
